Cardio Pro
7 warning signs of myocarditis
Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) often progresses insidiously, as it frequently causes no symptoms or only very nonspecific ones initially. Dr. Sanaa Talbi emphasizes that while the majority of cases heal completely, the heart remains vulnerable to serious complications during this phase. Without specialist diagnostics such as strain analysis via ultrasound, these cases often go undetected.
- Massive drop in performance: An unexpected and significant decline in physical endurance during normal sporting activities or in everyday life.
- Excessive pulse: An unusually high heart rate even with minimal exertion, such as when simply climbing stairs.
- Heart stumbling and racing: Noticeable irregularities in the heartbeat or brief palpitations, often caused by inflammation-related conduction disorders.
- Shortness of breath on exertion: Occurrence of shortness of breath (dyspnea) during physical activity that was previously possible without any problems.
- Persistent exhaustion: A deep feeling of tiredness and fatigue that goes far beyond the normal duration of a viral infection.
- Increased resting heart rate: A permanently increased pulse rate at rest, which makes monitoring (e.g. via smartwatch) after an infection or vaccination useful.
- Feeling of pressure in the chest: A non-specific feeling of tightness or stabbing pain in the chest that requires immediate cardiologic clarification.

Focus on myocarditis: protection and prevention with KardioPro
Here is a comprehensive, summary text about myocarditis that combines the medical expertise of Dr. Sanaa Talbi with key patient information:
Inflammation of the heart muscle, medically known as Myocarditis, Inflammatory heart disease (IHS) is a serious condition affecting the heart tissue, often occurring as a consequence of a seemingly harmless viral infection. The risk lies in the fact that viruses—for example, after a flu-like infection or a gastrointestinal illness—can attack the heart muscle and trigger inflammatory processes. In modern cardiology, as practiced by Dr. Sanaa Talbi in Stuttgart, the primary focus is on identifying this often "silent" danger in a timely manner, before permanent damage such as cardiac arrhythmias or chronic heart failure develops. A particularly insidious aspect is that many inflammations initially present with few symptoms and only manifest their dangerous effects under physical exertion.
Focus on myocarditis: protection and prevention with KardioPro
Vigilance is the top priority for athletes and active people. A sudden drop in performance, an unusually high pulse rate with little exertion or a feeling of heart palpitations are warning signals that should never be ignored. In our practice, we use high-precision methods such as the Strain analysis in cardiac ultrasound and, if required, a prompt Cardiac MRI via our partner network. These diagnostics allow us to assess the condition of the heart muscle at a cellular level and rule out areas of scarring.
The treatment of myocarditis requires one thing above all: Consistent protection. At KardioPro, we create an individual „return-to-play“ plan depending on the severity and findings. This gradual return to play ensures that your heart is given the time it needs to fully recover before it is exposed to maximum physical exertion again. Our aim is to guide you safely through the recovery phase so that you remain healthy and efficient in the long term.
STRESS ECG
Frequently asked questions about the exercise ECG
Electrodes will be attached to your chest, and you will take a seat on the exercise bike. The workload will be increased every two minutes (e.g., by 25 or 50 watts). During this time, Dr. Sanaa Talbi will continuously monitor your ECG and regularly measure your blood pressure until an individual workload limit is reached.
As you can work up a sweat on the bike, we recommend comfortable sportswear or loose everyday clothing and sturdy shoes (sports shoes). We will be happy to provide you with a towel.
The pure exercise phase usually lasts between 10 and 15 minutes. Allow around 30 minutes, including preparation (applying the electrodes) and the subsequent recovery phase, during which we will monitor your pulse and blood pressure.
Patients with known heart disease have a minimal risk of arrhythmias or circulatory problems. However, since the examination takes place under the personal supervision of Dr. Sanaa Talbi, an experienced cardiologist and emergency physician, maximum safety and immediate assistance are ensured.
You should avoid eating a heavy meal immediately before the test, but also do not come on a completely empty stomach. Regarding your medications (especially beta-blockers), Dr. Sanaa Talbi will inform you beforehand whether you should take them as usual or pause them for the test.
At KardioPro, we value speed. Dr. Sanaa Talbi analyzes the data immediately after the examination and discusses the results and further procedure with you right away.
No. While the exercise ECG primarily measures heart rates and blood pressure, spiroergometry also measures gas exchange (oxygen and CO2) via a breathing mask. Spiroergometry therefore offers even deeper insights into lung function and metabolism.
